About Observe New Mexico Elections
Observe New Mexico Elections, funded by The Carter Center, is a nonpartisan election observation effort designed to increase trust and transparency in elections. Observers will be trained about relevant laws, procedures, and safeguards in New Mexico’s electoral process and will verify that those procedures are followed consistently. Nonpartisan election observers represent all voters, do not interfere in the election process, and report what they see. Observers’ findings throughout the state will be aggregated to assess the quality of elections in New Mexico.
Job Description for Outreach Coordinator
Observe New Mexico Elections, a project funded by The Carter Center, is seeking a detail-oriented person to support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of coordinators and observers:
- Support Co-leads to hire Coordinators, including developing Coordinator position descriptions, applications, supporting the hiring process, and developing monthly expectations for coordinators (recruiting, training, key election dates).
- Support Coordinators to hire Observers, including developing packets for use by coordinators for recruiting observers, developing an observer position description, application, recruitment materials (paper and online), hiring process requirements, monthly timeline of activities and expectations, work agreements, W-9s.
- Post Coordinators and Observer positions on Indeed and relevant job boards
- Support the training of Coordinators and Observers by maintaining the training schedule, updating training materials (training PowerPoint, handouts, observation checklists and guides), and leading trainings, as needed.
Preferred Start Date: July 1
Proposed Salary: Dependent on experience
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $150.00 – $450.00 per day
Schedule:
- 5 hours per week in July, 5-10 hours per week in August and September, 10-15 hours per week in October, November
- Flexible schedule
Experience:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint): 1 year
- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides): 1 year
- Electoral Processes in New Mexico (Preferred)
Ability to Commute:
- New Mexico Residence and Voter Registration (Required)
Work Location: In person (Albuquerque or Santa Fe)
